Hot Date Part Deux

So. After 5 loooooong weeks I finally got home. John picked me up from the airport in Kelowna. And he was a lovely sight for tired eyes. We returned to the lovely pre-trip B & B (Caps on Cadder) where we enjoyed some nice Veuve Clicquot, smelly cheese and salty crackers whilst waiting for our dinner resos.
My apologies but the foodie in me must now take over and describe in detail the great food and wine we enjoyed later at Mark's restaurant (Waterfront Wines Winebar and Bistro--it is a must eat if ever in Kelowna).
We (again) enjoyed the calamari with smoked eggplant, cilantro, tomato appy and tried a new one...scallops which are crusted with delicate spices (I am sure I detected fennel in there somewhere), barely seared and served with pink grapefruit and avocado. For the mains we had monkfish which blew my mind! So fall-apart-in-your-mouth-which-is-watering. Though best described by Mark as "halibut and butter flavored" with crispy crab gyoza and carrot puree. John had the steak which was perfectly grilled and juicy with yummy potatoes and other things I am sure but by then the Champagne, bottle of Seven Deadly Zins and glasses of Wild Goose Gewurztraminer had gone to my head. Our server laughed when we tried to find a wine paring for the monkfish and steak. Hence the bottle of Red and glasses of not-red. A fabulous chocolate tart which was warm and gooey inside finished us off and John turned to me, his eyes only slightly softened by etoh and declared we should probably head home while we could still stand. At that point the camera came out, and a booth photo shoot of us trying to get a nice picture of us out on our date turned into a hilarious debacle which resulted in getting busted taking our own photo by both Mark and our server. Mark offered to take one for us and (can you believe it?) it turned out to be the best of the bunch. So. There you have it.
